A Widow Taking One Small Step: Moving Forward After Loss + Reflection Worksheet

You’re here because you’re ready to take a small step forward.
Let’s break it down into something simple and doable.
Before I ever showed up to a hiking group…before I got on a plane to Israel…
my steps looked much smaller.
Your starting steps are things like:
Looking at the website. Thinking about going. Driving there… and almost turning around.
Buying a new outfit (!)
Sometimes the step isn’t the big thing.
Sometimes it’s just getting a little closer.
And that prepares you for the big step of actually showing up.
✨ I’m allowed to change
After loss, it can feel like everything about you is already decided.
But it’s not.
You are still allowed to grow. To shift. To become someone new.
Who do I want to be in this next season?
Who do I need to be?
What part of my life feels ready for change?
🖼️ Imagine it
Before anything changes on the outside, it often begins inside.
What does this version of you look like?
What is she doing differently?
How does she move through her day?
Write a few words or phrases that come to mind.
🛑 What’s been holding me back?
Sometimes it’s not a lack of desire…
It’s something quieter:
A fear
A doubt
A voice that says, “I can’t”
Gently name what’s been in the way.
🚪 One brave step
You don’t need a full plan.
Just one step.
What is one small thing you could do?
Something simple
Something possible
Write your next step.
(Even a tiny step counts. Especially a tiny step.)
🙋♀️ You don’t have to do this alone
Who could support you?
Who feels safe?
Who could encourage you or pray with you?
Write one name.
You don’t have to become someone new overnight.
You are simply allowed to begin.
One step at a time.
Love you, widow friends,
Lisa
